How to have diff. IP Address in 2 diff. computers using wireless router?
Hi
I am using TP Link TL -WR340G Wireless Router and a Laptop and a PC is connected through this Wireless Router. But when i check the ip address in both computers, they show me the same ip address while my ISP is giving me Dynamic IP Address.
Can i change IP Address in my Laptop. I mean i want to have diff. ip address in both computers using this wireless router. Is it possible?

You are mixing a few things up here. IP addresses are always unique on a network. You have a router which connects both computers together. This is a network therefore. Both computers will have a different IP address. The IP address that both computers use will be an IP address that is not routable on the internet, such as 192.168.x.x for example. Your ISP assigns your modem an IP address that is unique on the network it is attached to. This network is the internet. The IP address is routable on the internet. When you use either computer to access the internet, the IP address of your modem will show up on the internet, not the non-routable IP addresses that both computers have. If you want both computers to have their own IP address on the internet, you will need to purchase more IP addresses from your ISP, who will then assign you static IP addresses most likely. The question is, why would you want more than one IP address? Normal users have no need for more than one IP address. In my whole career in IT, I have come across no one who would need more than one IP address at home.

yes its easy. go to browser and enter into the set up mode of your router. if you are getting ip address 192.168.xxx.y or then you router IP address will be 192.168.xxx.1. and then enable DHCP.. you will get the differenct IP. further when both lapop and PC are on together you get different IPs otherwise both will show error "IP Conflict"

Your router should assign different IP addresses to all connected devices. These are IP addresses for your local LAN. These are totally independent and bear not resemblance to your ISP Dynamic IP address. You can also go into your router and assign permanent IP addresses to your computers and/or printers. Your router instructions should say how to do this.

All computers in your network will have the same external IP address but different internal IP address.
You can check your internal IP address (which should be different on each computer) on:
http://www.ipaddresslocation.org/router-ip-address.php
http://www.find-ip-address.org/router-ip-address.php

However each computer in your network will have same external IP address because all use same ISP"

I hope this help!
