Connect two desktop computers to the internet. See details below please?
I have two desktop computers in two different areas of the house. One is in a bedroom which is where I have a tp-link wireless modem/router all in one and this computer is connected via an ethernet cable.

How an I get my second desktop computer (has no wireless card) which is at the front of the house connected to the internet?

Thanks

Hey A C,

Why dont you look into getting a set of homeplugs, basically these allow you to run your Ethernet network over a normal plug socket, so you could connect the second PC at the front of the house to the TP-Link wireless modem/router, as long as it has a spare ethernet port on the router!

Typically you will get better results than utilising wireless, especially if there is a long distance between the two.

Take a look at the netgear ones, we have found these to be good.

Thanks
Joe

The simplest, and cheapest, answer would be to purchase a wireless USB adapter for the second computer and connect to your wireless router that way.

Another way would be to purchase and install an internal wireless network card.

A third way would be to use a powerline adapter kit, and use your house's existing power grid as an ethernet connection.

A fourth way--and probably the most time-consuming and least simple method--would be to run an ethernet cable all the way from the router to the second desktop. I really don't recommend that, however, since the previous three solutions I mentioned are much simpler and arguably more cost-effective.
