I want to buy a Playstation 3, but I keep on hearing people saying that on a normal TV the graphics are similar PS2 graphics. I would like to know whether that's true. And are XBox 360 graphics better?

Thanx a lot.

SD tv's will dispaly at a resoltion same as PS2, but the ps3 has more polygons so the detial will be higher, hte models cleaner etc.
the 360 grpahics will look the smae as a PS3 on a SD tv.
if oyu want the most of of a PS3 or 360 get a HD TV, you wont regret it.

How a PS-3 game may look on a regular television is likely not much different to how an XBox-360 game will look on the same thing.

Despite their differences, both systems are capable of resolutions that will exceed standard television.

With games having HD graphics, you will reach a point of diminishing returns as NTSC and PAL resolutions simply cannot relay the extra information of HD graphics on regular televisions to really show you the difference.

XBOX 360 and ps3 graphics are the same. yes the graphics are pretty bad but not ps2 bad they look good just not clear crisp or sharp {sorta fuzzy, cant make out small details}. so if u are looking for good picture i would recomend an hd tv but dont get an hdtv that is low class because the standard tv you have with probably look better than a realy low class hdtv. anyways what size is your tv now cause if it is big than the quality gets worse because standard tv's dont have many pixels meaning that when a tv gets bigger they have to spread out the pixels and make them bigger leading to worse quality. so a sorta small tv would be ok but not better than an hd tv. but it also matter how far u are sitting from the tv you dont want to sit far away from a small tv whil playing games . you wont notice all the details.

anyways normal tv graphics do suck {size matters though} but not as bad. you wont notice the difference if u have never seen a ps3 on a hi def tv.

hidef is realy nice but dont get a realy small hi def tv as you wont be able to tell the difference bettween the small hdtv and a standard good tv.

and no buying a 360 wont make a difference in the graphics . it just matter what games u play.

if u have played a next generation console with hd hookups on an hd tv you will notice the difference between hd and sd {standard definition}

the PS3 graphics will look probably better than most TV stations you get on it. a standard def TV it will look the same as a 360

if you do get a HDTV get a HDMI cable the A/V cable it comes with wont give you HD

The People are wrong. Yes, it will look crappy compared to a HD TV/Monitor, but it still has way better graphics than PS2. The problem with a normal TV is mainly the pixels and the resolution. With such big pixels, the picture builds up with rainbow colors because the pixels are so big. Multiple colors are stranded in one large pixel. With HD TV, the Res is much bigger, stretching the picture for widescreen effect. and the pixels are much smaller, so it looks a lot more cleaner.

So, if you want to play PS3 games right now without a HD TV, great. Just know you are not going to get as great graphics as you would on a HD. If you have a monitor, you can hook PS3 up to it. Make sure your monitor has a DVI cable in the back. If you do, great. Go to a local electronic sore and find a DVI to HDMI cable. Now you just need to worry about sound. I got wireless headphones that connect to my PS3 with Fiber Optics. That also give me true sound.

P.S.

PS3 over Xbox (graphics provided as well):

1. Free internet use (Xbox you have to pay for live...)
2. Online store ( lots of games, demos, movies and more to download.)
3. Blu-Ray (Xbox got screwed with their HD DVD)
4. Built-in Wierless internet (You have to buy an adapter for Xbox)
5. Can have multible OS (Ubuntu 8.0!)
6. Qore: Like IGN for PS3 (I use it for latest update for games and Beta releases)
7. PS3 Home. Interactive Sim ( not out yet, but it will be sick. You can build your own house, and play tons of games with your friends. There will we a lot of features for PS3 Home.)
8. Metal Gear 4 ( Best story line ever!)
9. SOCOM: Confrontation (Best online game ever!)
10. Web Cam for PS3 for chat use (Use cam with friends and chat away. It also has built-in audio)
11. Can use Keyboard and Mouse for PS3 (use to browes the web and chat durring games. also can use for your other OS)
12. Web Browser (Xbox does not have one)
13. Light controller taht fit right in your hands (Love it because they charge fast and they are sooo light!)
14. Media (can use most memory cards to transfer files) SD CARD
15. External HDD with FAT32 (Has to be FAT32 I am afraid . But works)
16. Backwards compatible with PS1 and PS2 if you dont get 40GB

and much more!

Graphics:
PS3 and Xbox: Same graphics
Wii: Crappy graphics

Wii and PS3 have movement control. For PS3, you can move your controller around to interact with some games. I use it for Ghost Recon. When I get into fire, I jolt my controller forward making my guy slide to the ground for cover. Also Warhak, you can control flight by moving controller.

Well i don't have a PS3 but when i bought my 360 i was amazed by the graphics of Perfect Dark Zero. Its a lot better than a PS2.

But if you get the chance to get a HDTV than you need to take it. HD gaming is AMAZING!!!
