Top Level Domain for home server set up?
I am configuring Windows Server 2003 R2 and would like to install DNS and AD. but before I start I need to know if I should use a .local or .com Top Level Domain (TLD) I know the differences of each and that a .com would require it registered on the web etc. I am simply looking for the pro's and con's to each set up, thanks

Keep it to a local dns server, your domain registrar will handle your external dns and the service comes free with the registration. Do NOT let it show dns to the internet. For successful dns you need multiple servers for redundancy in any case.
