Can I use a laptop at home as a VPN server to bypass my college internet restrictions?
I have my old laptop running Windows XP Pro at home. My college internet has blocked the ports used for online gaming, torrenting, etc. Is there any way i can connect my current laptop running windows 7 to the internet through the laptop running windows XP to bypass my network restrictions?
Instructions on how to set it up would be handy too!
Money is a problem. So I would prefer not to have to pay for anything.

yes

The VPN makes it look like your home PC is the origin of illegal download requests etc. so that might make the college less unhappy, though you are still sucking their bandwidth that they have to pay for. Better to use a cellphone tether or rocket stick, then it's none of their business what you do on your break.

I'd get a Personal VPN, http://www.personalvpn.org and never have to worry about it again.
