Maybe you didn't snap the cartridge in well enough.

there should be a command there someplace that says install new ink cartridge. When you click on that it should ask if it's a new cartridg, say yes and it should refill the pic of the cartridge!

Can't really offer help, but I remember reading somewhere that one of the major printer manufacturers (HP?) was using some type of computer chip or something in the ink cartridges so that once they were "empty" they would always say they were empty, even if you refilled them.

When you refill your ink cartridge, many times the electrical contact that signals the computer and printer software about the ink level is destroyed in the refill process.
This should not prevent you from printing.

You must run the program that ajust the printer cartridge, after this you'll be able to print anything

Some printer cartriges have chips that need to be reset. Its a way to get you to buy new ones. Epson is notorious for it. You can buy a chip resetter for 17 bucks I think.

hi some printers will recharge the ink cartridges automactically after a new cartridge is inserted ok
also some printers have a chip on the head of the cartridge that will need resetting if it is reinserted with new ink some retailers or online stores sell these chip resetters for that reason ok but your best bet is to read your instruction booklet ok and do as if you are starting using the printer from new where the cartridges part is ok not the drivers etc,
skip to the cartridges part ok as there might be a few buttons to press in the menu to get it to recharge the ink cartridges ok

as i dont know what printer model etc you have ok if you can,t get them to work then your best bet is to buy new compactible ink cartridges ok or new original ones ok then your problem will be solved ok, as i find refilling the ink cartridges takes a lot of time to fill then you should align the heads on the printer ok
have you tried cleaning the heads on the printer you should have a menu stating maintence etc then cleaning cartridges ok something like that ok
hope this helps you
