Youtube black screen, sound still works?
When I go to youtube to watch videos, some of the videos are black boxes (even the play button / volume / time stamp bar is blacked out), but the audio works perfectly fine. My default browser is Chrome. When I watch the same videos in Firefox, the videos start working again, but I'd rather just fix it on Chrome. What do I do?

a BLACK and EMPTY screen means your Cache, Memory or PageFiling are filled-up
and can't take any more -- or you may have conflicting ''cookies''.  Simply delete your
Cache, Cookies and History; then clear your Memory with a shutdown & fresh reboot.
Afterwards, you'll freak at how good and trouble-free your YouTube will be.

Google Chrome:
→  ≡  or wrench  → Tools  →  Clear browsing data
→  the beginning of time ▼
[x] Clear browsing history
[x] Empty the cache
[x] Delete cookies and other site and plug-in data
→  Clear browsing data

Mozilla Firefox:
→  Tools  →  Options  →  Privacy ('key')  →  Clear Now
[x] Browsing History
[x] Cache
[x] Cookies
[x] Offline Website Data
[x] Authenticated Sessions
→  Clear Private Data Now

Don't forget to totally shutdown and reboot afterwards.

Other possibilities + solutions:
-- Right-click any video, click "Settings" and uncheck "Enable Hardware Acceleration".
-- Disable any Adblocking software, play a video; then you can re-enable the Adblock.
-- You may have a conflict with another Player (like Mozilla Shumway or Real Player).
If that's the case, disable/uninstall it, and when you'd like it back, simply reinstall it.
-- Disable your AV utility while on YouTube, since you can't get a virus from YouTube.
-- You may unknowingly be using ''HTML5'' rather than "Flash''. To be sure, click here
   http://www.youtube.com/html5 and opt out.

:-)
