Will you be able to use Windows 7 on Windows Vista?
Windows 7 is the new Microsoft OS, and if you have Windows VIsta, will you have to buy Windows 7 to get it, or will you be able to update your Vista to be Windows 7?

You pay for an Upgrade or you buy a Windows 7 disk in store (when it is released)

I heard an upgrade from vista to 7 will cost 50 dollars.

But Microsoft I heard is doing a free upgrade program with participating OEM manufacturer starting july 1st to jan 31st. You would get a free upgrade to windows 7, when it is released

Vista will be able to be upgraded to Windows 7 on a technical level. In other words, you don't have to do a brand new installation to get Windows 7 to work, and you shouldn't lose your files, settings, etc., if the upgrade does what it should.

However, you'd still have to purchase Windows 7, assumably via their upgrade pricing option.

There are rumors that most new computers sold with Vista between July '09 and January '10 will qualify for a free upgrade to Windows 7 when it's released, but they haven't been officially confirmed.
