adsl router router u can connect to single pc/server with ethernet
interface to its lan card
server config depends on apps u wanna load

You're asking a few open ended question. Please be more specific about what your server needs are (web, mail, file, print serving). You can connect a server directly into a router, but again, depending on your needs this may not be the correct solution.

A switch connects to a router typically. A very basic explanation: A router takes the incoming internet/network line and splits it so more than one machine can access the internet/network resources. A switch adds to the total number of machines that can connect to the router.
