Why is so much of my RAM being used?
I recently installed a new hard drive in my computer.

I went through all the normal motions; installed the hard drive, installed a pirated copy of windows, made it genuine, let it do all the updating it needed to do, etc. Now when I boot up my computer, everything works fine except my resource monitor shows that almost all my RAM is being used, all the time. I have 8GB of RAM and it's usually hovering around 7+ GB of RAM being used for what seems like nothing.

And here's the weird part.

If I play a game like FarCry 3 on max settings, it runs a perfectly smooth 60fps, which would never happen on a computer with maxed out RAM.

Any ideas why all that RAM is being used on a fresh boot?

Windows is designed to take maximum advantage of the available RAM. Dont worry, it releases it when its needed by other programs. Not a problem.
