If you download killdisk to delete the entire hard drive you should then be able to install XP on the computer. You might have difficulties finding some drivers though.

First, I'm going to start off by being an asshole. Your father couldn't possibly be a computer programmer and be so computer illiterate. You can't just change Vista to XP.
You should try to contact your computer manufacturer about an XP downgrade/upgrade. If you cant for whatever reason, you are going to have to go to best buy or some other store and buy one.

THE TOP TWO PEOPLE IN FRONT OF ME ARE CRAZY

You Can Change Windows Vista To A Windows Xp
Here'sIs What You Do,
You Will Have To Purchase A New Windows XP CD That Is Going To Be Hard To Find Because Microsoft Had Some Of The Stores Pull It Off Their Shelves But I Think Best Buy Might Have It Be Best To Just Call Around)
When You Have The Downgrade CD You Put The CD In The Computer And RESTART It You Have To RESTART And It Will Do The Rest For You It Will Ask You If You Want To Delete The Previous Running System

Or At Least Thats What It Did For Me And Im Now Running XP
Remember RESTART

You should know that Windows Vista and XP are two different Operating Systems. Some Programming won't be able to change it. You can try doing the following -
1. Try contacting Microsoft and ask them how to downgrade from Vista to XP (this is what they call this process as!)
2. Try contacting your Computer Vendor and ask him if he could replace Vista with XP.
